ZDNet has posted a video of Matthew Miller’s teenage kids unboxing Microsoft’s new Kin One and Kin Two social media phones. Microsoft has gotten a lot of flack for announcing these “dumb smartphones”. These two teens report back on the ZDNet blog that their initial impressions of both Kin phones are pretty positive, and it sounds like they’re liking them more a they get used to them.
I know that my teenage daughter was pretty keen to find out if the Kin One would be available on Rogers when I showed her some of the initial videos and details.

PocketNow, who clearly spend all their time making videos, has just put up this new vid of the HTC HD Mini and the HTC HD2 side-by-side. I’ve seen pictures of the two, but this video shows them running beside each other.
This is an interesting video because we finally get to see how the lower, odd HVGA resolution on the HTC HD Mini affects your screen real estate. Smaller, but both are nice looking devices. There’s also an odd implementation of pinch-to-zoom. What do you think?

The good and productive guys over at PocketNow have put together the first full review of the cute new HTC HD Mini, the “littler HD2”. This video covers the usual: a nice unboxing and then a nice hands-on for a few minutes.
Rumors have surfaced that the HTC HD Mini may be hitting Orange in the UK, but nothing is confirmed.
You can also check out PocketNow’s hardware and software tours after the jump.

A few weeks back I wrote a couple posts about some spy shots of two different tablet-format PCs that Microsoft was working on. Well I just came across a nice video featuring the Courier “in action”, or at some simulated action that gives us an idea of what to expect.
I’m a big proponent of gadgets being shaped to fit our needs (as opposed to the other way around [read: Apple]), so I’m really excited to see where this type platform may end up… Anyone have some thoughts on this?

This video from PocketNow shows how users can now select text from within TouchFlo 3D 2.5 build 1920. It works similar to the iPhone, with a selector popping up that you can stretch to engulf the text you wish to select.

HTC, in their quest to usurp the OS makers and convince people to just buy HTC, have begun an ad campaign to promote their new “quietly brilliant” slogan, which replaced the old “HTC Innovation” slogan earlier this month. This new ad, which is OS-agnostic, simply promotes the HTC brand, reflects HTC’s own quietly brilliant strategy over the past two years to produce phones that provide the same experience regardless of the OS underneath. Another excellent step by HTC! The more irrelevant the OS (thanks to the common Sense UI across all HTC devices) the more those OS makers will have to up their game.

Much like with sex and food, language doesn’t matter much when it comes to ogling the sexy HTC HD2. This video – which I believe is in Greek (literally, not in the “it’s Greek to me…” sense) – shows a nice long session with the new HTC HD2 and it’s as pretty as we all hoped. Fast, too. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

I’ve long lamented Microsoft’s absence from world of advertising, especially in the new mobile world, and I have been overjoyed a the recent spate of Windows Phones ads since the drop of Windows Mobile 6.5. Now Microsoft has put out another little video – looks like the kind of thing that might run during movie previews and such – this time promoting Marketplace, their app store. And it’s not bad either, pretty funny.

The good guys over at PocketNow have posted a full review of the new HTC Imagio Windows Phone, available from Verizon. Calling it “the best Windows Phone released for the North American Market” so far, PocketNow really likes this new, Windows Mobile 6.5 device that features the new MediaFLO Qualcomm chip for mobile TV and a handy kickstand for easy viewing.

This vid gives a great tour of the highly anticipated HTC HD2 Windows Phone. The HD2, you will remember, has that massive 4.3″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen and it steals the show – the hosts describe the HTC HD2 as a “Super Phone”. The HTC HD2 part starts about 29 minutes in, but you may want to watch the first few devices, as they look at the HTC Hero, HTC Tattoo, the the HTC Imagio first.

HTC has done a great job of making Windows Mobile a little more bearable over the past few years with its custom UI, TouchFlo, and the successor, TouchFlo 3d. HTC is about to retire the TouchFlo line and replace it with their new Sense UI, which is already out on Android devices and is launching on the HTC HD2, launching soon.
This in-depth video gives a detailed tour of Sense… enjoy.

Wonder what it’s like to buy something from the Microsoft Marketplace for Mobile? Well, wonder no longer! This video walk-through shows the whole process, including the various ways in which you can pay for your apps and such.
It looks like there are 4 ways to pay:
- Pay with your Live ID: Associate a credit card with your Live ID for quick and easy checkout.
- Pay with your phone: Link your Marketplace for Mobile account with your carrier’s phone billing system and your applications purchases will be billed to you with your phone bill. This might not be worked out with all carriers everywhere just yet.
- Pre-pay and set your own limits: If you don’t want to run up your credit card or phone bill, or are giving a Windows phone away to a minor, you can set up a pre-paid account with a set amount.
- Pay with PayPal: Whether you’re paranoid with Microsoft having your credit information or just don’t want to deal with credit cards, Microsoft is allowing users to pay with PayPal–a nice move.
