Twitter App for Windows Phone 7

http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/Twit…7-Hands-on-Demo

Given the utterly broken state of many current Windows Phone Twitter apps – I never did post about how pissed I am that applications like TouchTwit simply stopped working when Twitter turned on their new authentication system and many developers don’t care about updating their apps – it’s exciting to see new apps that will support Twitter in a slick, easy to use way.

Tweets Near Me Finds Twitterers Near You

tweets_near_me_screenshot

I just saw a post on PocketNow about this cool, free app that lists all the tweets of people near you. If you’re a regular twitterer and want to know what’s happening around you, give Tweets Near Me a download and try it out. You can specify the distance from you and keywords to search for, and then Tweets Near Me shows you all the tweets that match

Synchronize your Twitter Account with TWP Profile

twitter_logo_header I’ve just installed tweetstream, a cool plugin for BuddyPress that synchronizes your Twitter account with your TheWindowsPhone activity stream. If you’re an industry insider or just tweet a lot about Windows Phones and the mobile space, consider enabling this feature on your profile to keep TWP readers up to date. It will add your tweets to the TWP activity stream, too, exposing your tweets to the whole community!

To synchronize your Twitter account with your TWP Activity stream:

  1. Under the “My Account” menu item on TheWindowsPhone bar at the top of the site, click on “Settings”
  2. Click on “Tweetstream” on the sub-menu
  3. Click on Authorize With Twitter (this takes you to the Twitter website)
  4. Enter your Twitter username and password and click “Allow”
  5. That’s it!

The browser should redirect you back to the Tweetstream settings, where you can configure the following options:

  • Delete tweet from twitter when deleted in activity.
  • Always check checkbox “To twitter”
  • Synchronize tweets to my activity
  • Import tweets containing @names
  • Add my profile link after my tweet

There is now an option to filter “good” and “bad” words. In other words, any tweets with “good” words will be posted to your Activity stream, tweets with “bad” words won’t.

I’m using #twpcommunity as a twitter hashtag for all things TheWindowsPhone. Tweet away!

Video Walk-Through of New HTC TouchFlo 3D

PocketNow has posted a comprehensive walk-through of the newest build of HTC’s TouchFlo 3D UI replacement for Windows Mobile. The star feature here is the new Twitter tab, which we’ve seen on the HTC Hero, and it supports status updates, short URLs and TwitPic.

This latest build, #1919, also brings a few new enhancements to the robust UI:

  • Animated wallpaper and weather wallpaper option for Home tab
  • Redesigned calendar tab
  • New email tab with longer message previews
  • Large, more colorful icons for the swipe action
  • The addition of Footprints tab
  • Album adds Facebook integration for photos and YouTube integration for videos

I believe there’s a ROM floating around XDA somewhere if you want to check it out.

Beta of Resco Photo Viewer 7 is Awesome!

resco_photo_viewer_7_beta_screenshot_1Resco’s Photo Viewer v.6 is a must-have on all of my Windows Mobile devices, right back to my PPC 6700, so it was with an ear-to-ear grin that I saw Resco had released a beta version of their soon-to-be-released version 7. I had spotted a few spy shots of the alpha version and it looked good, but I am just tickled pink with the beta copy I just installed on my Xperia X1.

A beautiful, easy-to-use new UI makes the app totally finger-friendly, which was the only drawback to version 6 and earlier. Add simple integration with Facebook, Twitter and other online networks and it looks like the perfect image viewer for Windows Mobile. It surely beats anything else for WinMo, and is arguably the best image viewer I’ve seen on any platform!

Download the beta version of Resco Photo Viewer 7 straight from Resco and be sure to leave your thoughts below!

Qik Video Sharing App Updated to 4.21

qik_screenshot
The very cool video sharing app, Qik, has just received a major overhaul that includes a whole new, sleek user interface and better integration with social networks. Qik is great at taking vids and uploading them to your favourite sites, but the most remarkable feature is the live video streaming from your phone to their website. Very neat.

The screenshot shows a great looking UI with finger-friendly icons for all the touchies out there, and they’ve specifically improved integration with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. They seem to have fine-tuned it for the Samsung Omnia, but it should work nicely on any WinMo device.

Check out Qik’s website to see it it in action, register and download the app.
