Toshiba TG-01 users will be happy to hear the free upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 they’ve been waiting for has arrived! A bunch of European markets have this device, which features a nice, big 4.1″ screen and the 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, so it should really purr with Windows Mobile 6.5. Go here to get it from Toshiba Europe’s website.

Toshiba is set to re-launch their TG01, this time branded as the TG01 Windows Phone and sporting Windows Mobile 6.5. The TG01, if you recall, was a very sexy looking device on paper, featuring the Snapdragon processor, a 4.1″ WVGA screen and a 3.2megapixel camera. Sadly, reviews came back a little sour on the inherent limitations of WinMo 6.1 and the tweaks Toshiba themselves made in an effort to improve the UI.
This new TG01 is set to launch in Europe on October 6th, but Toshiba isn’t leaving their early adopters out in the cold: Toshiba is going to be providing a free Windows Mobile 6.5 download to all their TG01 users who bought with 6.1. This gives you the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, as well as a slew of UI improvements expected to roll out with this upcoming WinMo upgrade.

The Toshiba TG01 boasts powerful multimedia performance and gaming potential but what’s really awesome? Well, for one thing it’s only 9.9mm thick! It’s got a 4.1 inch, 800 x 480 LED backlit display that uses resistive rather than capacitive touch technology – in other words, making it completely useful for software that uses handwriting recognition.
