“Nearly four years after Apple unveiled the iPhone, and more than two years after Google introduced its first Android smartphone, Microsoft is launching its effort to catch up. On Nov. 8, AT&T and T-Mobile will begin selling the first phones powered by the software maker’s new Windows Phone 7 operating system.”
Walt then goes on to lament the fact the OS is lacking common features like copy and paste, though when the iPhone was committing that feature for two years, it wasn’t a lamented feature. Of course, Microsoft will roll out copy and paste in early 2011 if reports are accurate, but still, it is a point Mr. Mossberg gets to raise. Perhaps more shockingly he uncovered that the new Microsoft platform won’t sync with an Apple MobileMe account. This is indeed a travesty as MobileMe is a central hub for all of your data on every smartphone out there, except for Android, WebOS, Blackberry, Symbian, Meego and all other platforms that aren’t spelled “iOS.”
Whilst Leigh was able to get hands on the HTC 7 Mozart and HD7 from Orange and O2, I have been lucky enough today to get hands on a HTC 7 Trophy and will be putting through its paces for a full review over the next week or so.
Also to add to that, a HTC Desire HD is also on it’s way to me as I write this and due to arrive tomorrow so expect a head to head between the new Windows Phone 7 OS on the Trophy and Android 2.2 on the HTC Desire HD.
If anyone has questions please comment below and I will do my best to answer them. Just to avoid one question, the Trophy is a Vodafone exclusive but yes I do have a T-Mobile sim in my one. T-Mobile will NOT be stocking the HTC 7 Trophy.

“When it comes to Windows Phone 7 devices, AT&T might win in quantity, but we think T-Mobile wins in quality…Both the HTC HD7 and Dell Venue Pro will be headed to T-Mobile shelves this holiday season, and frankly, we can’t wait to get our hands on these phones, as they both offer enticing designs.”

Bonnie Cha from CNet spent some time with the HD7 and Venue Pro during WP7’s launch ceremony, and I’ll admit to being envious. Both are expected to hit the shelves in mid to late November. Check out the link for a gallery of both and a video.

“With the new HTC HD7, customers can access their favorite movies, TV shows, games, music and more on a large 4.3-inch screen.”

A funny thing happened on the way to the Windows Phone 7 launch – T-mobile tweeted, just shortly after 9:30, a teaser introduction to the HTC HD7, linking to Facebook. Looking good T-Mo!

OK, we’re hoping this will all make a bit more sense tomorrow. This apparently us the T-Mobile version of the Schubert. It looks a little different than the earlier shots but, at a guess, it could be that this is a US version. Honestly, I’ll just be glad when tomorrow is done and we can piece this all together.
Slightly different specs are shown in this TmoNews article – 16GB of storage, 576MB of RAM and a $199 price-tag in the US.
Right, that’s enough – let’s get on that train to London now shall we?

“We’ve been saying it for weeks now: Microsoft will be launching Windows Phone 7 in New York City on October 11th and while others doubted, it looks to be confirmed by none other than Microsoft. What’s even more odd, is that T-Mobile is the featured guest and we bet a certain HTC HD7 will be the star. Guess that rumor we heard about AT&T’s exclusivity being only two-weeks may be accurate after all…”

The cat is out of the bag: Windows Phone 7 is officially getting launched on October 11th. And, I’ll just come right out and say it, no one from Windows Phone Thoughts got invited to cover the event. Limited capacity at the event and all that jazz – sadly, we’re just not considered important in the eyes of Microsoft. How times change…anyway, we’ve been added to the waiting list, but I don’t expect we’ll be able to cover it live. However, there will be a Webcast of the event and I’ll be doing a write-up as I watch it.
