Review: Text Twist

screenshot1602I’m sure plenty of you are familiar with Text Twist. This game brings me back to my university days — I used to pass time between classes playing this game at internet stations. If I’d have had it on my phone then I would have never paid attention in class!

You’re given a scrambled six letter word, and you have to see how many three, four, five or six letter words you can make in a limited time! If you manage to get one (or more) six letter words by the end of the level, you get to play again! You score points by getting words – longer words give you more points, and finishing all of the possible words in a level gives you bonus points.

SeeqPod coming soon to Windows Mobile

One of my favourite online MP3 search engines, Seeqpod, will soon be releasing a Windows Mobile application that will allow users to search for and stream music through their WinMo phones, according to ReadWriteWeb.com.

SeeqPod is a very extensive search engine that finds playable web content (video, audio, slideshows, Flash files). It will have a fully skinnable player and will provide links to allow users to purchase songs if they choose.

Apparently the app will go for $10 (at an introductory price) and then for $15 regular price. The app includes playable music search, discovery, and Wikipedia articles on the artists. I’m excited to see how SeeqPod will look on WinMo!

Palm Software Store is only a clever disguise

Well colour me disappointed. There’s all kinds of buzz today centered around the Palm Software Store now available for Windows Mobile and Palm OS devices but hopefuls should be ready for a let-down. Turns out that this app store is just a 28KB file that adds an icon to your phone that serves up a hyperlink to the online Palm Software Store (powered by PocketGear) when clicked. It’s no different, really, than the Sprint Store or the AT&T Mall software links that have been on WinMo devices for years now. Boo!

WinMo, where’s my super awesome app store? I’m waiting.
