Samsung has gone ahead and launched it’s own App Store for their Windows Mobile phones. Not sure if this only works with Samsung models (maybe someone could post a note?), but it looks like the basic appstore concept: top downloads, direct-to-device cab installs, etc.
AT&T has provided us all with its own hands-on video of three of its most anticipated phones of their spring line up – one of which is the Samsung Propel Pro – a Windows Mobile 6.1 device featuring a full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, and enterprise applications. The Samsung Propel Pro will be on sale for an expected $149.99 in April (customer’s pay $199.99 and after mail-in rebate, receive $50 AT&T promotion card).
The other two phones featured in the above video are both Symbian devices (Nokia’s E71x along with Samsung’s Impression) and will also be released as part of AT&T’s spring lineup.
This sleek and sexy device is none other than the B7300, the latest leak from Samsung! It looks a lot like the Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH but, luckily, runs Windows Mobile.
We don’t know much about it yet, but it’s apparent that it’s got a nice, big display, a 3MP auto focus camera, and microSD card slot. It also looks to run the latest TouchWiz UI which is super customizable, which is great!
Could it be true? Listen up, Canadians! A tipster from BGR is reporting that Bell is getting ready to launch the Samsung Omnia in April! Specifically somewhere between April 9th and April 12th.
The Omnia runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and has a 3.2″ 240×400 touchscreen display, and the usual — GPS, WiFi, EVDO Rev. o / Rev. A…
But at the top of the list of cool features for the Omnia is its super cool 5MP camera with autofocus, face detection, smile detection, LED flash, image stabilization and DivX/XviD video playback!
No pricing or launch details confirmed by Bell as of yet, but stay tuned!
Engadget was lucky enough to get their hands on a Samsung SCH-M830 — Samsung’s current WIMAX and HSDPA device. It’s no HTC MAX 4G, but it’s certainly flashy enough with its 3.3 inch screen and cool user interface (powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, of course).
It’s a safe bet that it’ll be living exclusively in Korea for a while but we’re happy to see more and more WIMAX phones being made — come on, North America, step up!
Two new Samsung Windows Mobile phones have appeared on the horizon today – the Samsung Pivot and the Samsung Louvre. While the Louvre appears to be pretty standard (WinMo 6.1, tilt-able slide out QWERTY keyboard, 3.2MP camera, etc.), the Pivot will bring something new to the table: Windows Mobile 6.5.
The Samsung Pivot will additionally be packing a 5MP camera, but will likely have the same features as the i780.
No word yet on when they’ll be available, but we’re keeping out fingers crossed that we’ll hear about them at MWC 2009!
Love the Omnia? Well, here comes another treat from Samsung - the Acme i8910. Though it’s not entirely clear right now whether it will run Windows Mobile, all signs point to ‘yes’!
The Acme i8910 packs the usuals – GPS, WiFi, 8 or 16GB of internal memory, a 3.5mm headphone jack and – drumroll please – a rockin’ 8MP camera… that can record HD video!
Remember the Samsung Propel that launch in the fall via AT&T? Well here comes the Propel Pro: WinMo 6.1 standard (yeah, yeah) but hey – an optical joystick!
No specs or launch dates or any more information right now, sadly – but with MWC 2009 just around the corner, we’re bound to catch word of it soon enough! Hold tight, folks.
Sometimes the non-Windows Mobile phones out there are just so cool that they’re worth a mention.
Have you seen the new Samsung Armani Night Effect yet? (Seen above) It’s got a 2.2″ QVGA screen, 3MP Camera, Music Hot keys, 3G, Bluetooth, Media player with Video Recorder, FM Radio, and a much-loved 3.5mm audio jack. Read here for more info on this sexy new Samsung device.
The Samsung Omnia’s biggest selling point is its touch screen – it’s huge, very responsive, and looks very sharp. Also worth noting are its 8GB internal memory (expandable to 24GB with a 16GB microSD card!), great battery life, GPS built right in, and a 5MP auto-focus camera (with LED flash).
With the year drawing to a close, it’s time to pull out the best that WindowsMobile Cool had to offer our readers this year in the way of comprehensive guides on everything from personalizing your WinMo phone to using your phone as a wireless modem.
Let’s take a look at WindowsMobile Cool’s most popular how-to guides of 2008:
Surprise, surprise! CNET’s Bonnia Cha has recommended the Samsung Omnia (on Verizon Wireless) over the new and much anticipated BlackBerry Storm. Cha says she prefers the Omnia because its operating system is a bit quicker to respond:
Though slightly more expensive, Verizon customers looking for a touch-screen smartphone will get a better user experience and faster performance from the Samsung Omnia than the RIM BlackBerry Storm.
Spb Wireless Monitor is a complete solution for measuring data traffic via all types of connections and calculating network usage costs according to your data plan. Spb developers are proud to announce that Spb GPRS Monitor is shipped in Samsung WiTu – a version of Samsung i900 (globally known as Omnia), specially customized for the Russian market.
First user manuals and full spec sheets, now official press releases – Verizon Wireless‘ Samsung Omnia is getting a lot of time in the spotlight this week!
I know plenty of you were less-than-impressed with the news of a new version of Internet Explorer Mobile (6), but it’s worth reporting that as per ZDNet’s announcement, it looks like China will be the first to put Mobile IE 6 onto a Windows Mobile device. Specifically, it will be the Chinese version of the Samsung Omnia to take the first hit get the first native install. Who’s next?
Alright Verizon Wireless customers, put down the new BlackBerry Storm and hear me out, okay? And, while the real specs are still a mystery, we’re still talking about a 5MP camera/camcorder, full HTML browsing, and an expansive touchscreen.
While the Verizon page is linked to by Samsung’s website, the Verizon page itself doesn’t exist… yet. But it will. Oh yes, it will.
The program works with the Samsung Omnia and HTC Touch Diamond GSensor to set off the “Jump” or “Coin” 8-bit Mario game sounds when you jump in real life.
The file includes the theme song to Super Mario Bros too so you can set it as your ringtone!
The folks at pocketnow have just posted a video of their unboxing of the new and awesome LG Incite.
The LG Incite, as mentioned before, packs a 3″, wide QVGA resolution screen, an accelerometer for automatic screen rotation, and of course, HSDPA, FM Radio, WiFi, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, and all that. Strangely enough, like the HTC Touch HD, the Incite has no D-Pad, but a scrolling wheel on the side. I’m not sure how I feel about that, personally, but the folks at pocketnow find it to be a welcome addition.
As we all know, the Samsung Saga is soon to hit Verizon Wireless stores. In fact, it’ll be in stores and ready to go home with you on December 1st.
But have you noticed… how blue this handset is? I know, I know – is this really news worthy? Well, no. But I had to draw attention to it again, just in case you had missed this. Now, I’m more of a purist — handsets should come in straight black or hot pink (I’m still a girl, alright?) But I have to say, this looks fairly sweet! Is this why our readers want this phone so badly? Cause I’ll grant you that one. I mean, if the HTC Touch Pro came in hot pink…
Two awesome hacks from XDA-Developers in one day! Woo hoo!
This time one that allows you to ‘enable’ (read: re-enable) Internet Sharing on your HTC Touch Diamond, Sprint Touch Pro, AT&T Fuze (Touch Pro) and the Samsung Epix!
Now, this is a registry key edit so use at your own risk as we’re never 100% sure of how these things will turn out sometimes.. but if you’re desperate for Internet Sharing (or brave and up for a challenge) try out this trick…
