Omnia 7 On PAYG WIth Three At £449.99

UK network Three sell most of their phones on PAYG as well as contract options which is great for anyone who likes the benefits of a sim only package but buy a phone of your choice.

On passing a nearby Three store today I spotted that the Samsung Omnia 7 is also on offer costing £449.99 (as was the HTC Desire HD) which does sound a lot for a phone but when you consider at the moment most Windows Phone 7 devices are contract only with the HTC HD7 being the only other PAYG offering on O2 it is not actually that bad.

Three does not offer this handset on PAYG online yet and you might find some stores try to hold onto stock for a full contract but the pricing is there and the handset is available if you can find a store to sell one to you.

So now who would consider a 12 month sim only ‘One Plan’ for only £25 a month and buying one of these handsets outright?

XDA Guide to be launched by O2 Germany

O2 Germany has just announced a brand new Windows Mobile device – the XDA Guide. The Guide runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro and is the successor of the XDA Orbit 2.

Device specs include Qualcomm MSM 7225 CPU at 528 MHz and features GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA in addition to Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi b/g and GPS. The Xda Guide comes with a 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen and sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM which can be expanded by microSD cards. A 1 GB microSD card is part of the sales package and holds TomTom Navigator 7 (with maps for Germany, Austria and Switzerland) – cool!

XDA Flint packs a punch (and an overnight bag)

UK’s O2 has just launched the XDA Flint – an out-of-the-ordinary Windows Mobile device that’s sure to catch your eye. Sure, we’ve seen it before in the HTC Advantage, but it’s worth singling out again.

[ad]

The XDA Flint has 16GB of flash storage, GGSM/GPRS/EDGE compatibility, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual cameras (3mp and VGA), video output, and an ATI graphics chip. It’s is driven by a 624 mhz processor with 256mb of ROM and 128mb of RAM. The XDA Flint is also GPS-enabled (reportedly through a SiRF StarIII chipset) dual speakers and, yes, a 3.5mm audio jack.

Even though it packs all that, it’s still only 4.5 x 3.9 x .06 inches and weighs only 13.2 ounces but in comparison to the HTC Touch Pro (4.02 x 2.01 x .71, 5.82 ounces), this thing is a beast!
