“November 8th is fast approaching and to kick off on the celebration Microsoft and AT&T are giving thousands of music fans the chance to see free concerts from Katy Perry in New York City and Maroon 5 in San Francisco…Also marking Windows Phone 7 availability in the U.S., Rob Dyrdek and Minka Kelly will race across the country on the Really Rally Road Trip, challenging people to change their relationship with the mobile phone.”
You’ll have to pop into certain AT&T stores to get a chance at tickets. Which ones will be announced via the Windows Phone 7 Faceboook page. I’m wondering how fast Rob and Minka have drive to get from NYC to SF in time for the concert – best I can figure is between an average of 110-130 mph. That’s a lot of speeding tickets :).

“That didn’t take long, did it? The promised beta of Windows Phone 7’s Mac-friendly companion app is now available, bringing basic media sync capability — notably with iTunes and iPhoto integration — to that shiny new Microsoft-powered phone of yours.”

Well, if you are a Mac owner and are considering purchasing a Windows Phone 7 smartphone, Microsoft’s beta version of their new Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac may just tip the scale in favor of that purchase. The utility will help you sync your media (photos and music, in particular) with your Mac. What is particularly interesting about this utility, is that it does not use the traditional file/folder metaphor for the sync mechanism. Instead, it leverages iTunes and iPhoto (the Mac’s venerable music and photo management software) as the conduits for the syncing. So, if your media is managed with those apps then this new sync facility will be particularly attractive.

Yesterday Pocketnow revealed that Windows Phone 7 doesn’t seem to allow custom ringtones. We were determined to disprove this, so I spent time digging around the OS for a way to upload your own MP3 ringtone. There’s Zune integration and wireless music sync, so there must be a way of doing it, right?
How do you do it ? Well, there’s no file explorer, so that’s not an option. How about emailing it to yourself and doing it that way? Nope, that doesn’t work either. How about through the Zune software? Click on to see what happened…

“Windows Phone 7 Connector is coming, for all you Windows Phone 7 obsessives stashing media on your previously incompatible OS X machine. No, it’s not Zune for Mac, but it does get the job done: we’ve been testing it out over the last few days, so read on for our impressions.”

As I suspected, 99% of the headlines out there over the past week the were proclaiming that the “Zune desktop software is coming to OS X” are flat-out wrong. It’s amazing how people twist and conflate pieces of information. Anyway, if you’re an OS X user and you want a simple way to get music, photos, and videos onto your Windows Phone 7 – the reviewer doesn’t say whether it also works with the Zune…I’d like to think it does given the platform similarities, but I can’t say for sure. The beta comes out October 24th, at which point I’ll take it for a spin myself and see what works and what doesn’t. What I don’t understand is why Microsoft is being so coy about this – it’s a pretty significant move!

“The HTC HD7 offers high-fidelity surround sound and a large 4.3″ screen to provide great experiences with music, video and gaming.”

Look familiar? Yeah, this is basically the HTC HD2 with a few tweaks; that’s not a bad thing, mind you, because the HD2 was a hell of a Windows Phone – the best one I’ve ever used in fact. I really like the kickstand concept, because a 4.3 inch screen is pretty good for watching a movie on a plane. The 720p HD video capture is also a nice perk! The HD7 will be available exclusively in the USA from T-Mobile.
- 4.3″, 800 x 480 touchscreen
- 4.8″ x 2.68″ x 0.44″162g
- 512MB ROM/576MB RAM/8GB internal storage
- Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 1 GHz
- Battery life: WCDMA – Talk time: 320 min/Standby: 320 hrs GSM – Talk time: 380 min/Standby: 310 hrs
- 5MP camera with flash
- HD 720p video
- Kick stand
- Widescreen phone with Surround Sound
More photos after the break.

“With the new HTC HD7, customers can access their favorite movies, TV shows, games, music and more on a large 4.3-inch screen.”

A funny thing happened on the way to the Windows Phone 7 launch – T-mobile tweeted, just shortly after 9:30, a teaser introduction to the HTC HD7, linking to Facebook. Looking good T-Mo!

GrooveShark is a really simple concept: search for any song in the world and play it. Hit up their desktop site to give it a whril – it works pretty well, bringing up almost every version of whatever song you drop into their search bar.
Well, Nilezon, a developer over at XDA, has just released a 0.2 beta version of his Windows Mobile GrooveShark client. At first glance it appears to work pretty well, too! Go download Nilezon’s GrooveShark Mobile at XDA and let me know what you think!
More than just a player, Kinoma Play everything you need to find and play video, audio and pictures, whether they’re on your phone, on your home PC, or on your favorite web services.

For the launch of SeeqPod’s mobile app for Windows Mobile, they’ve got free downloads! Today only!
We’ve worked hard to make it an app that goes beyond most Windows Mobile apps, both in how the graphics work (dynamic alpha blending for some extra bling), skins and colors, and the ability to search for audio and playlists wherever you’re at. We think it’s quite a value for Windows Mobile phone owners.
And they support VGA, so all you HTC Touch Pro and Sony Ericsson Xperia users – be sure to get your hands on it now!

One of my favourite online MP3 search engines, Seeqpod, will soon be releasing a Windows Mobile application that will allow users to search for and stream music through their WinMo phones, according to ReadWriteWeb.com.
SeeqPod is a very extensive search engine that finds playable web content (video, audio, slideshows, Flash files). It will have a fully skinnable player and will provide links to allow users to purchase songs if they choose.
Apparently the app will go for $10 (at an introductory price) and then for $15 regular price. The app includes playable music search, discovery, and Wikipedia articles on the artists. I’m excited to see how SeeqPod will look on WinMo!
