PocketNow.com has put up a good post for all those of you who are sporting HTC Touch Pros. With three US carriers picking up the HTC Touch Pro 2 (T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint), many of you are surely considering making the jump to the 2.0… but should you?
Our good friend Julian Zrotz at PocketPC.ch has gotten his hands on a brand new HTC Touch Diamond2 review device and has shared with us some HD videos and pictures to help show off this sexy little touch phone.
Featured Videos: Unboxing, hardware tour, comparision with the original Diamond & HD, TouchFLO 3D 2, hardware tour, video performance comparison with HTC Touch HD, file explorer, and internet experience.
Not totally in love with your HTC Touch Pro anymore? Sick of it freezing on start up? Got the TouchFLO 3Dblues like me? Well, have no fear.
HTC has just released a firmware update that should fix all of those problems and maybe even some you didn’t know you were having and some you haven’t had yet.
Watch out, though, this firmware update is unbranded and comes with a huge warning against using it on a carrier-locked device (ie. HTC Touch Pro vs. AT&T Fuze):
This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading.
If you don’t mind taking risks, by all means – update here! But if you’d like to keep the living on the wild side to a minimum, why not wait for your carrier to make the jump to new firmware? This might be the start of a bandwagon, my friends. Who knows!
Mozilla has just updated its official wiki to indicate that their newest alpha version of Firefox Mobile web browser (‘Fennec‘) is being prepared for release as soon as next week. Good news for all you Windows MobileHTC Touch Pro users – according to the wiki it’s going to be available exclusively to you.
A forum post over at PPC Geeks has just revealed how to go about unlocking the GPS on HTC Touch Pro handsets from Verizon Wireless.
The fix is a beta (I can’t stress that enough) and has no guarantee of not totally messing up your phone, however unlikely. That being said, those of you who are still brave enough (GPS-desperate enough) can check out the thread right here for step by step instructions!
Yes, this is exactly what it looks like – an HTC Touch Pro running a virtual BlackBerry OS. According to RIM, this OS virtualization application is called the BlackBerry Application Suite which boasts BlackBerry OS 4.2 functionality with OS 4.6 style.
Personally, I’d like to try it out — mostly just for the wow factor of being able to load up another OS on my device. But unless you’re new to Windows Mobile, you must already know that loading up new ROMs (cooked or otherwise) or even a new OS (Linux) on your WinMo phone is easy as pie. No offense, BlackBerry enthusiasts (I do love the sex appeal and work functionality of many BlackBerrys) but this is really nothing new for us. I am, however, glad to hear that BlackBerry is finally getting a long-awaited update to BlackBerry Connect.
Whoah ho ho! Looks like the old saying is true – it’s not the size of the device that matters…
The above video puts the HTC Touch Pro (640×480) up against the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 (800×480) in a web browsing contest and guess who won? Watch the video to see for yourself!
Alltel has jumped on the bandwagon and added the HTC Touch Pro to their smartphone line up. The popular device is going for $279.99 (on contract, of course) with a $100 rebate.
Not many differences with this version but a tweak to the TouchFLO 3D UI from the carrier.
Officially announced today, Indian Windows Mobile users will soon be able to get their hands on the HTC Touch Pro and the HTC Touch Viva.
These two popular Windows Mobile devices will not be sold by any of the three major Indian mobile operators though (Airtel, Reliance, or Vodafone), it seems, as HTC has partnered with Idea Cellular for the release of these devices.
The HTC Touch Pro will be sold for the retail price of Rs. 34,900 ($708) and will be marketed as the HTC Touch Pro T7276 while the HTC Touch Viva will be available for Rs. 16,490 ($335) and will be called the HTC Touch Viva T2223.
No news yet on when they will go on sale but rumours have them available in the next few weeks.
Finally! The HTC Touch Pro has made it to Canada! (One step closer to being in my grubby little mitts!)
Bell Canadahas just released the HTC Touch Pro with the following prices: $599.95 on a one month, $549.95 on a one year, $449.95 on a two year, and 3-year for only $239.95 - not bad at all!
Two awesome hacks from XDA-Developers in one day! Woo hoo!
This time one that allows you to ‘enable’ (read: re-enable) Internet Sharing on your HTC Touch Diamond, Sprint Touch Pro, AT&T Fuze (Touch Pro) and the Samsung Epix!
Now, this is a registry key edit so use at your own risk as we’re never 100% sure of how these things will turn out sometimes.. but if you’re desperate for Internet Sharing (or brave and up for a challenge) try out this trick…
The internet is buzzing with rumours the T-Mobile MDA Vario IV. Everyone wants to know – when will this bad boy launch? Well, the T-Mobilesite’s ‘Phone Manuals’ section lists it! (Bottom left of the center frame)
The T-Mobile version of the HTC Touch Pro has got Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, 528Mhz CPU, 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, TV Out, FM Radio, and a microSD slot.
So if you’re a big fan of T-Mobile’s Vario IV (HTC Touch Pro) be sure to keep your eyes on the T-Mobile site - and this one! We’ll let you know the moment it launches!
Though there’s no news yet on an official launch, it looks like AT&T corporate stores are starting to get some Fuze (HTC Touch Pro) dummy units now. Look at that sexy, sexy phone!
