Herg, a developer at XDA, has ported Sony’s X1 Panels over to the HTC Touch Pro2. There is also a link for additional Panels you can download, but it doesn’t look like many work just yet (no Facebook, no Skype, but yes to Windows Live). Check out the download links here at mobilitydigest if you want to give it a whirl, and please report back with your thoughts!

This neat little vid shows a screen visibility test between seven pretty hot devices:
- Samsung Omnia
- Omnia 2
- Omnia HD
- Samsung Galaxy
- iPhone 3GS
- HTC Hero
- HTC Touch Pro 2
Basically, it looks like the iPhone screen wins in the sunlight, while the others, especially those with the AMOLED screens, look better in lower light. Judge for yourself…

Here is a nice unboxing video of the new HTC Tilt 2 on AT&T. This video from pocketnow is pretty thorough, giving us a look at the original Tilt for comparison and then tearing open the FedEx package. We also get to see it up against the iPhone and the Touch Pro 2.
As promised, the first official Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade for the HTC Touch Pro 2 has just been released into the wild and is ready for you Touch Pro 2 owners to head over to the official HTC website and download it!
Be sure that you’re aware that this ROM update (version 1.86.401.0) will actually clear all the data on the phone and replace the current OS — so make sure you backup all of your contacts, emails, messages and call history using something like PIM Backup (which I highly recommend).

Chuong Nguyen over at pocketnow.com has just put up his thoughts on the Straight Talk feature on the new HTC Touch Pro 2. Straight Talk, announced at the same time as the Touch 2 at the Mobile World Congress 09, is a handy feature that turns on the speakerphone when the phone is flipped onto it’s front. This is even more effective with the HTC Touch 2’s dual speakers and dual microphones.
In short, Nguyen really liked the system and his conference-calling-guinea-pigs couldn’t even tell he was on speakerphone at times and even found the speakerphone to have better quality than the regular headset.
