Our good friend Julian Zrotz at PocketPC.ch has gotten his hands on a brand new HTC Touch Diamond2 review device and has shared with us some HD videos and pictures to help show off this sexy little touch phone.
Featured Videos: Unboxing, hardware tour, comparision with the original Diamond & HD, TouchFLO 3D 2, hardware tour, video performance comparison with HTC Touch HD, file explorer, and internet experience.
The good news? The HTC Touch Diamond2 is going to be launching this week in Europe and Asia (and in the US… but only with European bands, sadly). The less-than-good news? Don’t get too excited about the Touch Diamond2, Verizon Wireless customers. Your carrier has just launched… the HTC Touch Diamond. Ouch! Why so behind the times, VW?
The new HTC Touch Diamond combines all the performance and functionality of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with high–tech, innovative TouchFLO 3D Technology on its hi–res touchscreen. View, create, and edit documents in Word and Excel, view PowerPoint and PDF files, filter your Inbox, and stay connected – securely – with your office via ActiveSync or Wireless Sync. Take advantage of Wi–Fi connectivity, Bluetooth Wireless Technology and its 3.2 MP camera with flash and video capture. Use it as a tethered modem with Mobile Broadband Connect (previously named Broadband Access Connect), find your way with VZ Navigator and stay entertained and up to date with Windows Media Player and Visual Voice Mail.
Well, at least now you can see what the first generation Touch Diamonds look like up close and personal. I guess that’s something!
Looks like there are a slew of awesome WinMo 6.5 phones set to come out this year, according to WMPowerUser.
On top of the previously seen Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2, the “Firestone” (above), successor to the once promising Touch HD, runs a 3.6-inch WVGA display, 600MHz processor and Windows Mobile 6.5. According to my sources, this one should be out sometime in August 2009. There’s also the HTC Whitestone which packs a 3.6 inch WVGA screen, 5 megapixel camera, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a Qualcomm 7600 processor running at an impressive 528 Mhz. The device will have both GSM and EVDO and debut on the Verizon network in September.
Most impressive to us so far though is the poorly code named HTC “Thoth” which is clearly the Athena successor. The Thoth features a huge 4.8 inch WVGA screen, a 5 megapixel camera, 256 MB RAM/512 MB ROM, Windows Mobile 6.5, of course… but get this: It runs on a Qualcomm 8250 processor at 1000 Mhz! Keep your eyes peeled for this sexy lil thing September 2009!
Check after the jump for some leaked pictures of these cool yet-to-be-announced devices!
