Don’t let the fact that LG has just agreed to make three brand new Android phones fool you. They’ve also just signed an impressive deal with Microsoft that will make Windows MobileLG’s primary platform.
LG has more than 50 new WinMo phones in the cards with this new deal and looks to have launched at least 26 of those by 2012.
“The Windows platform brings flexible and customer-friendly software that ties into the Web and the PC, giving our phones a wide range of new capabilities to address an increasing number of segments and markets,” said LG’s CEO, Yong Nam.
Both LG and Windows Mobile have set up research and development teams to help ensure that WinMo is tighgly integrated with LG’s hardware.
I’m looking forward to seeing what LG and Microsoft have up their collective sleeves, how about you?
Phone Dog has just posted a video hands-on of the popular LG Incite on AT&T. The first LG ’smartphone’ to be released in the US ever (which, of course, is debatable by some… but not by me! I agree.)
The AT&T Incite runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, has a 3″ touchscreen, Video Share and a 3.5mm audio jack (Thank you, phone gods!). But, as these guys point out — what’s up with having a stylus and not having a slot on the device to store the stylus?
The folks at pocketnow have just posted a video of their unboxing of the new and awesome LG Incite.
The LG Incite, as mentioned before, packs a 3″, wide QVGA resolution screen, an accelerometer for automatic screen rotation, and of course, HSDPA, FM Radio, WiFi, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, and all that. Strangely enough, like the HTC Touch HD, the Incite has no D-Pad, but a scrolling wheel on the side. I’m not sure how I feel about that, personally, but the folks at pocketnow find it to be a welcome addition.
It’s about time! The LG Incite, which was announced over a month ago, is finally showing up on AT&T’s website – in stock and ready to be snatched up!
Sure, it might be bad timing for AT&T to release such a hyped device in the same week as Verizon Wireless launches their much hyped device – the BlackBerry Storm. But I would argue that it’s a great time to show what Windows Mobile has up their sleeve.
The LG Incite is available for $299 with a $100 mail-in rebate (Visa gift card) – not bad at all!
